Zach Ertz Injury Update Boosts Fantasy Outlook, Downgrades Dallas Goedert for Week 13 vs Dolphins
Zach Ertz missed most of the Philadelphia Eagles' practices this week with a hamstring injury, and his status is still uncertain for Sunday's Week 13 matchup with the Miami Dolphins.
Is Zach Ertz Playing Today?
The most recent injury update indicates that Ertz is likely to play, as he did return to a limited practice on Saturday and is reportedly pushing to play on Sunday.
When Ertz plays, there's no doubt he's one of the top tight ends in fantasy football. He's averaging 6.1 receptions and 64.7 yards on 9.0 targets per game, and he checks in at TE2 with 156.2 PPR fantasy points.
Even with the potential that he's limited by the hamstring injury, he's simply too productive to keep on your bench, especially in a dreamy matchup this week. He's up against a Dolphins' secondary that ranks last in the NFL in Football Outsiders' pass defense DVOA metric.
Ertz likely playing, along with Alshon Jeffrey and Nelson Agholar being healthy, does downgrade Dallas Goedert, who had been playing an expanded role over the last couple weeks.
Goedert did still average 5.5 targets per game in his last four contests with Jeffery healthy, and this matchup is good enough to keep him in play. On the off chance Ertz sits, Goedert will also see a massive boost in fantasy value.
In a matchup that's simply too good to ignore, the Eagles' struggling offense should have no trouble getting back on track this week.
Accounting for Ertz playing, he sits at TE3 while Goedert checks in at TE12 in our Week 13 PPR fantasy football rankings.
