The month of June hasn't been the most memorable for the Chicago White Sox, who went just 12-10 in 22 games so far. Over the weekend, the White Sox saw a scary potential injury to their superstar first baseman and reigning AL MVP Jose Abreu.

On Sunday, Abreu exited the White Sox's 7-5 win after getting hit by a pitch on his left knee. The x-ray did come back negative and Abreu was listed as day-to-day, but the concern over missing the slugger for any length of time was apparent.

Jose Abreu Injury Update

Luckily for Chicago, the reigning MVP proved his toughness and will be reinstated into the lineup for Tuesday night's matchup with the Minnesota Twins. The Twins-White Sox scheduled contest on Monday was actually rained out, so Abreu didn't even miss a single game following this scary moment.

After dropping seven of their last 10 ballgames, the White Sox hold just a 2.5-game lead in the AL Central standings. This could be just a small case of a baseball "June Swoon" as the White Sox still own the third-best odds (+750) to win the World Series on FanDuel Sportsbook.

And, through 71 games, Abreu is slashing .241/.321/.433 with 12 home runs and 53 RBIs. While those numbers are a far-cry from his MVP campaign in 2020, he's one of the scariest bats in this White Sox lineup and having him in the lineup is crucial for a deep run in October.
