Over the first half of the 2019 NFL season, the New England Patriots looked to have one of the best defenses in NFL history. They weren't quite able to maintain that success throughout the entire campaign, but it's worth remembering just how good they were in the early going.

But perhaps the most impressive stretch of the season came in this three-play sequence against the Cleveland Browns.

The Browns ran three plays here, all three of which resulted in a lost fumble. The Patriots' defense even picked up a touchdown on that first fumble recovery.

To be fair, New England also got pretty lucky here. Joel Bitonio accidentally forced the first fumble by inadvertently kicking the ball. The second fumble was, admittedly, because of a beautiful play on the ball by Jonathan Jones. The third fumble looked more like a "Madden" glitch, as Lawrence Guy broke through the line quick enough to swipe the pitch out of mid air.

Still, it's hard to argue with the results. Bill Belichick's opportunistic defense will look for more stretches like this in the 2020 NFL season.
