Since Bill Belichick took over the franchise in 2000, the New England Patriots have prided themselves on versatility. In fact, star wide receivers like Troy Brown and Julian Edelman have spent time on both sides of the ball during their time in New England.

And not even Randy Moss, one of the greatest receivers in NFL history, was exempt from that. But in classic Moss fashion, he excelled at that too.

Playing against the Kyle Orton-led Denver Broncos in 2009, Randy Moss lined up in the defensive backfield to defend against an end-of-half Hail Mary. Orton's throw fell a couple yards short, but Moss went up right in front of the goal line and hauled in the pass. Somehow, that pick was one of Moss' two catches on the day.

That play helped the Patriots protect a 17-7 lead going into halftime, but the Broncos stormed back in the second half. They would go on to win the game in overtime, 20-17.

Perhaps, Belichick should've thrown Moss out there again to protect that second-half lead too.
