The 2022 MLB Draft is only days away, taking place on Sunday, July 17. The Minnesota Twins have given their fanbase plenty to cheer about this season, possessing another opportunity to do so when they use the eighth overall pick in Round 1 this weekend.

There are several prospects worthy of being taken at No. 8, however, MLB insider MLB Kiley McDaniel projects the Twins to land an absolute steal with their pick in ESPN's final mock draft.

Twins Mock Draft

McDaniel has the Twins using the eighth overall selection on Cal Poly infielder Brooks Lee. Considering that the 21-year-old sits at No. 5 on MLB.com's draft rankings, there's no doubt that Minnesota fans would be thrilled if this mock scenario became reality.

The reigning back-to-back Big West Field Player of the Year has been nothing but great for the Mustangs over the last two years. He's played 115 games for Cal Poly over that stretch, racking up 25 home runs and 112 RBIs while maintaining a .350 batting average.

Lee can also play both shortstop and second base, giving the Twins options down the road. Former 2017 first-round pick Royce Lewis is Minnesota's top SS prospect, though, he's recovering from ACL surgery. Assuming he fully recovers, the future of the Twins' middle infield would look bright with Lewis and Lee leading the wild.

Twins fans don't have to wait too long before finding out if Lee will join their organization. Day 1 of the 2022 MLB Draft can be watched on ESPN and the MLB Network on Sunday at 7 p.m. ET.
