The Tennessee Titans got bad news earlier this week when it was announced that rookie wideout Tryelon Burks would miss Week 5 with a toe injury. While it was already bad that he wouldn't be suiting up against the Washington Commanders, things became even worse on Saturday.

Titans writer Jim Wyatt reports that the team has officially placed Burks on the injured reserve. That's hardly great news for a talented pass-catcher who was dealing with a slew of health woes before his rookie campaign even began.

Treylon Burks Injury News

Any player placed on the IR must miss a minimum of four games from their placement date, meaning Titans fans shouldn't expect to see Burks until Week 10 against the Denver Broncos at the earliest.

The 18th overall pick in April, Burks hasn't found his footing in Tennessee's offense just yet. He's caught 10-of-16 targets for just 129 receiving yards, however, the fact that he did play at least 65% of offensive snaps in his last two games shows that a big role could be coming his way when he returns.

Even with his struggles, Burks' absence will make the Titans' already weak aerial attack that much weaker. Tennessee averages only 185.3 passing yards per game (sixth-worst) while all of their pass-catchers average 41.8 or fewer receiving yards per game.

Hopefully, Burks has a speedy recovery. The 22-year-old wideout is a big part of the Titans' future and it would truly hurt the offense even more if he's forced to miss more than just the next four games.

Titans vs Commanders Odds

Even with the latest injury news, the Titans are still projected to win this weekend (albeit, in a close game). FanDuel Sportsbook currently lists Tennessee as the 1.5-point favorite over Washington in a game where the projected total is set at 42.5 points.
