Defenses are sometimes left as an afterthought in fantasy football, but Week 11 served as another reminder as to just how important they can be. Anyone who got a whopping 20 points out of the Cleveland Browns' defense can attest to that.
With that in mind, here are our fantasy football defense rankings for Week 12.
12. San Francisco 49ers (at LAR)
11. Arizona Cardinals (at NE)
10. Indianapolis Colts (vs TEN)
9. Seattle Seahawks (at PHI)
Riding with the Seattle Seahawks' defense obviously feels counterintuitive. They haven't just been bad, they've been historically bad. But that unit is quietly starting to turn it around. Seattle has kept its opponent below 28 points in three of its last four games, surrendering just 62.3 rushing yards per outing in that stretch. That's a recipe for success against Carson Wentz and the Philadelphia Eagles. Wentz has been a human turnover machine, leading the league in both interceptions (14) and fumbles (10). With Philadelphia likely to be playing catch-up all game, Seattle should have plenty of chances to generate takeaways against the NFL's most turnover-prone QB.
8. Green Bay Packers (vs CHI)
7. Pittsburgh Steelers (vs BAL)
6. New York Giants (at CIN)
Believe it or not, the New York Giants are currently the 11th-best defense in fantasy. They're also the 12th-best defense in terms of points allowed per game. Point being, this unit is a lot better than it's being given credit for. And people may finally take notice in Week 12, when Joe Judge's Giants face the Ryan Finley-led Cincinnati Bengals. Finley was a disaster through three starts in 2019, averaging 158.0 passing yards per game with 2 TDs to 2 INTs while taking 11 sacks and recording 4 fumbles. We saw more of the same when he came in relief in Week 11, as Finley completed 3-of-10 passes for 30 yards and 1 INT while getting sacked 4 times. New York should have no trouble racking up fantasy points on Sunday.
5. Washington Football Team (at DAL)
4. Cleveland Browns (at JAX)
3. New Orleans Saints (at DEN)
2. Los Angeles Rams (vs SF)
1. Miami Dolphins (at NYJ)
The Miami Dolphins are coming off a really underwhelming showing in Week 11, but don't expect a repeat performance on Sunday. Miami is currently a top-five defense in terms of: turnovers (17), points allowed per game (20.2) and fantasy scoring (86 points). Brian Flores' defense also draws one of the best possible matchups as they take on the New York Jets. Whether it's Sam Darnold or Joe Flacco at the helm, expect the Dolphins to wreak havoc like they normally do. As an added bonus, Miami also has 2 defensive TDs on the year. With the Jets' offense throwing INTs at the seventh-highest rate in football, the Dolphins should get a few chances to take one to the house in Week 12.
