Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Carlos Rodon has been at the center of his team's success on the mound this season. However, the AL Cy Young contender was sidelined with shoulder fatigue ahead of his start in the Field of Dreams game, and fans are anxious to hear some good news on his status.

Manager Tony La Russa provided a promising update on the White Sox ace on Sunday.

Carlos Rodon Injury

Further tests on Rodon showed no damage, which is a great sign. La Russa added that the starter could potentially return for Chicago's upcoming series against the Toronto Blue Jays, though that's not guaranteed.

La Russa's estimate at least sets a possible return date. Their series against the Blue Jays starts on Monday, Aug. 23, so that'd provide Rodon another week of recovery at minimum.

The White Sox certainly won't rush their ace back, though. His health for the postseason is much more important. And with Chicago currently owning an 11.0-game lead for first in the AL Central, they can allow the 28-year-old all the time he needs to fully recover.

The White Sox have the third-best odds to win the World Series at +600, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
