Tom Brady Fantasy Outlook Includes Boom-or-Bust Potential in 2020
By Max Staley

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers' skill-position group might be the most talented unit Tom Brady has ever played with. His legendary arsenal in 2007 is the only real competition for that title. While that featured better top-tier talent, Tampa Bay's group might be deeper.
Considering he was saddled with perhaps his worst-ever unit with the New England Patriots in 2019, the move to Tampa Bay should do wonders for his fantasy football outlook.
Tom Brady Fantasy Football Outlook
Brady is currently coming off the board with an average draft position (ADP) of QB8, per FantasyPros. That means a breakout is already priced into his draft-day cost, which surprisingly makes him a boom-or-bust option.
As mentioned above, his upside comes from the move to Tampa Bay. The Patriots' receiving corps got a bottom-10 grade from Pro Football Focus in 2019, while the Buccaneers' received the league's third-best grade. That unit also added long-time Brady favorite Rob Gronkowski this offseason.
The last time New England's pass-catchers posted a top-10 grade from PFF was 2017, when Brady finished as fantasy's QB3. Tampa Bay's skill-position group is undeniably better and deeper than what he was working with then, however. Plus, the move to Bruce Arians' air-it-out system could lead to a more aggressive, downfield style than we've ever seen from TB12.
However, this is all just theoretical at this point. Brady has finished outside the top-10 fantasy QBs in back-to-back years. If his decline in production is more due to old age than his lackluster supporting casts, these upgrades won't matter all that much.
That makes Brady a high-risk, high-reward option in 2020. He's a fantastic QB to target at his current ADP, but fantasy managers might want a backup option ready incase Father Time has caught up with him.
We have Brady as the QB10 in our 2020 fantasy rankings.
