The Philadelphia Phillies have had a big start to their offseason. First making a huge splash by singing star shortstop Trea Turner to a massive 11-year contract. On Tuesday, they followed that up by inking former New York Mets starting pitcher Taijuan Walker to a four-year deal.

Walker's deal will pay him a reported $72 million, which is more than many predicted he would make entering free agency. After Walker's contract was announced, he decided to tweet out his own Welcome to Philadelphia video, the opening song to the "Fresh Prince of Bel Air" TV show.

In the famous Show, Will Smith is originally from Philadelphia, forever tying the city to the well-known 90's show that helped put the A-list actor on the map. Walker now hopes the same happens to him.

Walker spent the last two seasons with the Mets. His 2022 was much more memorable, where he posted a 3.49 ERA and went 12-5 in 29 starts and 157.1 innings.

Walker now slots into the middle of the Phillies' rotation and creates even more stability behind Zack Wheeler and Aaron Nola. The Phillies are spending big this offseason coming off a World Series appearance, and seem poised to do whatever it takes to get over the hump in 20223.

The Phillies are currently +1000 to win the 2023 World Series, according to FanDuel Sportsbook's latest MLB odds.
