NFL tight end Rob Gronkowski is fresh off a Super Bowl title with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and now heads into the offseason as a free agent. The veteran playmaker showed he still has some gas left in the tank as he caught 45 of his 77 targets last season for 623 yards and 7 touchdowns.
A number of NFL teams need help at the tight end position. While it's hard to see him leaving the Buccaneers, Gronkowski will draw a fair amount of interest. With that being said, here are three predictions on possible landing spots for Gronkowski.
Rob Gronkowski Free Agency
1. Buffalo Bills
If Gronkowski has his eyes set on winning another championship, he should look no further than the Buffalo Bills. The Bills impressive offense helped take them to the AFC Championship game last year and would only improve by adding Gronkowski to the lineup. The Bills don't have a ton of cap space, but they have enough to make signing Gronkowski a real possibility. Plus, signing in Buffalo would mean he gets to play his old friends in New England twice a year.
2. New England Patriots
Speaking of the Patriots, a reunion with their star tight end is an option worth looking at here. New England has not been able to find any kind of production from their tight ends since they lost Gronkowski. Head coach Bill Belichick could convince Gronkowski to come back and help usher in a new quarterback. This may come down to money as the Patriots have the third-highest projected cap space number and could outbid a lot of other NFL teams.
3. Los Angeles Chargers
One team looking to build off a promising 2020 season is the Chargers. With Rookie of the Year quarterback Justin Herbert leading the way, the team needs to find a replacement for starter Hunter Henry. Gronkowski could be an affordable option for the Chargers and they could use the lure of playing in Los Angeles as a way to get the veteran pass-catcher to sign. There isn't many better places to play in the NFL than in the Golden State.
