Reds News: Sonny Gray Activated From IL For Start vs Brewers

Earlier this week, on Thursday, fans of the Cincinnati Reds rejoiced when they learned that starting pitcher Sonny Gray may be reinstated from the injured list this weekend. Gray will officially be activated on Sunday, just in time to make the start against the visiting Milwaukee Brewers.
After dropping the first two of their three-game set at home against the Brewers, it looks like the return of their veteran starting pitcher will be much needed.

Sonny Gray Injury Update
Gray first landed on the 10-day IL on July 8 with a strained rib cage muscle. He's been one of the most reliable members of Cincinnati's starting rotation this season, pitching to a 3.19 ERA across 12 starts. Better yet, Gray owns 80 strikeouts in just 62.0 innings pitched, an 11.6 strikeouts per nine innings rate.
Cincinnati continues to stay very much alive in the NL Central race with their 48-44 overall record. They do, however, trail the first-place Brewers by 6.0 games. The Reds want to stop this brief two-game losing streak against Milwaukee following the MLB's All-Star Break. Following Sunday's contest, the Reds play Milwaukee only three more times until postseason baseball.
Currently, the Reds own +550 odds to win the division, according to the latest MLB odds on FanDuel Sportsbook.
