Red Sox Get Pair of Positive Injury Updates on JD Martinez and Trevor Story

Wednesday night went about as poorly as it could for the Boston Red Sox. Not only did they fall 6-1 to the Toronto Blue Jays, but stars JD Martinez and Trevor Story both had injury scares during the contest.

Thankfully the latest update on those two is positive.

JD Martinez Injury Update

Martinez put Red Sox fans on edge after he was forced to leave Wednesday's game in the bottom of the third inning. He appeared to suffer some kind of leg injury after running to second base, and it's been confirmed he's dealing with left abductor tightness.

Manager Alex Cora said after the game that while Martinez is sore, the team doesn't plan to make a roster move, which shows this isn't a long-term issue. The four-time All-Star will get the day off on Thursday to rest up.

Trevor Story Injury Update

Everyone held their breath after Story was hit in the head with a 93 MPH pitch on Wednesday. He miraculously stayed in the game after being checked out by trainers, but there's always a huge concern that comes with any kind of head injury.

Cora told reporters that Story passed all of the concussions protocols a player must go through, which is a huge sigh of relief.

Story is even slated to bat leadoff for Boston on Thursday, so it appears he's avoided any kind of major injury.
