The Las Vegas Raiders head into the 2021 campaign with a top backfield duo of Josh Jacobs and newcomer Kenyan Drake. Given that both running backs will see a ton of usage, the recent injury to backup Jalen Richard suddenly made depth at the position a huge issue.

In response, Las Vegas went out and poached a depth option from the Washington Football Team's practice squad.

Peyton Barber Raiders

The Raiders are signing Peyton Barber off of Washington's practice squad and adding him to their official 53-man roster. The running back was recently cut by WFT before re-signing with their practice squad, but now he's headed to Las Vegas.

Barber caught on with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent in 2016. He recorded 1,987 yards on 551 rushing attempts over four seasons with the team. He then moved on to Washington for the 2020 campaign, recording 258 yards on 94 rushing attempts behind Antonio Gibson and J.D. McKissic.

The former Auburn standout provides a great insurance piece for the Raiders behind their two primary backs. Barber is more than capable of stepping in when they need to take a play off, and he could challenge Richard for RB3 duties with a strong performance.

Las Vegas owns +350 odds to make the playoffs this season, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
