The Las Vegas Raiders head into Week 9 with a winning record after defeating the Cleveland Browns in what was a masterful defensive performance. With a 4-3 record, the Raiders are in the hunt for one of the three AFC Wild Card spots and now face rookie quarterback Justin Herbert and the upstart Los Angeles Chargers.
The Raiders have been overlooked this entire season and that continues as they enter this matchup as road underdogs. The Chargers have lost five of their last six games and are at the bottom of the AFC West division. However, they are 1.5-point home favorites this week, according to FanDuel Sportsbook, which is downright disrespectful to the Raiders.
The Chargers have been all over the place as each of their five losses have been within one possession and three of them have been by just three points or less. They are on the cusp of being a winning team, but just can't make it over the hurdle.
Meanwhile, the Raiders have put together some quality wins taking down the Chiefs on the road and taking care of the Saints at home. Las Vegas ranks No. 12 in the league when it comes to scoring (26.7 points per game) and average 379.0 total yards per game (No. 11 in the NFL).
The Raiders draw an advantage in this matchup as the Chargers defense has given up 251.7 passing yards per game (T-No. 22 in the NFL) and are giving up 26.4 points per game so far this season (No. 19 in the NFL). Quarterback Derek Carr and the Raider's offense should have no trouble moving the ball down the field.
While the Chargers do have home field advantage in this matchup, it feels disrespectful to make the Raiders underdogs in a matchup that could easily turn into a big win for the road team.
