The first round of the 2019 NHL Playoffs came to a thrilling conclusion, as the Carolina Hurricanes stunned the Washington Capitals in double overtime of a win-or-go-home Game 7. Now that the first round has come to a close, there is a bit more clarity about who could potentially meet in the 2019 Stanley Cup Finals.
With that in mind, let's break down the likeliest matchups for the 2019 Stanley Cup Finals, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
As things currently stand, the Boston Bruins are favored to make the Stanley Cup Finals. The Bruins' likeliest matchup, according to the odds, is against the San Jose Sharks (+800), but the St. Louis Blues (+850) aren't far behind. Additionally, a potential matchup between the Dallas Stars and the Bruins is +1100.
Boston looks to be the presumptive favorite despite narrowly advancing in its first-round series against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Meanwhile, the New York Islanders are another team in a few of the matchups with the best odds, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. A matchup between the Islanders and Sharks is available at +1000 and New York has +1100 odds to face the Blues.
The Colorado Avalanche are apparently the least likely team to make the Stanley Cup finals. The Avalanche have +2000 odds to face the Carolina Hurricanes or the Columbus Blue Jackets.
While the Bruins are currently involved in the matchups with the best odds to make the Stanley Cup Finals, the NHL Playoffs remain wildly unpredictable and these odds are sure to move again soon.
