PFF Projects Steelers Draft Ben Roethlisberger Replacement in Latest Mock Draft

The Pittsburgh Steelers' offseason has mostly been headlined by Ben Roethlisberger and his future with the team. After weeks of drama, Big Ben agreed to a pay cut, cementing his place as Pittsburgh's starter for at least one more season.
However, post-Roethlisberger plans needs to be made, and Pro Football Focus sees the team taking an heir apparent in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft.

Kyle Trask Steelers
PFF has Pittsburgh selecting Florida Gators QB Kyle Trask with the No. 55 overall pick in their latest mock draft. The Steelers likely won't have a shot at the top names in this year's class unless they trade up, but taking a flier on Trask in the second round would be a solid move.
Trask finished his senior season as a Heisman Trophy finalist by throwing for 4,283 yards, 43 TDs and just 8 INTs in 2020. And at 6-foot-5, 240 pounds, he's the exact kind of QB build that teams fall in love with. Knocks against Trask include his lack of mobility, but that's nothing the Steelers haven't already been used to with Roethlisberger.
A stacked QB class could push Trask down the board, and it'd be smart for the Steelers to capitalize, especially with no real plan apparent for the next era. Trask would soak up knowledge from Big Ben in his likely final season, and he could take over in 2022 as the team rebuilds with a young QB on a low-cost rookie contract under center.
