It's no secret that having quarterback Patrick Mahomes on the roster makes life a lot more simple for fantasy football managers. The Kansas City Chiefs leader has finished as a top-10 fantasy QB in each of the last three seasons and looks poised for another massive year in 2021 if he can stay healthy.

Patrick Mahomes Fantasy Outlook

Mahomes is coming off a 2020 season in which he completed a career-high 66.3% of his passes for 4,740 yards and 38 touchdowns. The fifth-year QB also showcased his rushing abilities by adding in 308 yards and 2 touchdowns on the ground. Overall, he finished as No. 4 at his position despite missing one game due to injury.

It's notable to point out that Mahomes will have all of his offensive weapons back this season and will be working behind an improved offensive line as well. The Chiefs made it a priority to keep Mahomes safe in the pocket this offseason by signing veteran Joe Thuney and trading for Orlando Brown.

Kansas City has proven to be an offensive juggernaut ranking amongst the top six NFL teams in scoring average in each of the last three seasons. Head coach Andy Reid has been able to create a game plan suited for Mahomes' style of play and it has worked out beautifully so far.

While other quarterbacks such as Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson may have a bit more upside, Mahomes' consistency is hard to pass up in the first few rounds. He has the ability to put up 15 or more points during his worst outings and the potential for 40 or more when playing at his best.

The former NFL MVP should be motivated to perform following the Chiefs' Super Bowl loss and could easily carry fantasy rosters into the playoffs. Mahomes has an average draft position of No. 14 overall and No. 1 amongst QBs in standard leagues, according to FantasyPros.
