Ever since star running back Christian McCaffrey went down with a hamstring injury in Week 3, the Carolina Panthers have stumbled to a 1-4 record in their last five games, after starting the season 3-0. To add to that, quarterback Sam Darnold suffered a concussion scare during the team's Week 8 win of the Atlanta Falcons.

Christian McCaffrey Injury Update

Luckily for Carolina, both players seem to be on the mend and ready to take the field in Week 9 when Carolina faces off against the New England Patriots.

Sam Darnold Injury Update

While Darnold has struggled for much of this season, he was a different quarterback to start the year when he had McCaffrey in the backfield. McCaffrey had a really solid start to the year, averaging over 120 yards from scrimmage per game with a touchdown in 2.5 games played. Just him being in the backfield, forcing the defense to focus in on him makes everything easier for the rest of the offense, and that showed as soon as he left.

With the offense looking like it will be healthy in all the right places for the first time since Week 3, Carolina heads into their week 9 matchup with New England as a 3.5-point home underdog, according to FanDuel Sportsbook's latest Week 9 odds.
