There's one name and one name only that San Diego Padres fans fear most of getting injured. That's none other than superstar young shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr.

Unfortunately for San Diego, the team got some concerning news on their young star's latest injury update. The 22-year-old shortstop suffered another shoulder injury during Friday night's game as he slid into third base. This is the same shoulder that's kept Tatis Jr. on the shelf for a pair of trips already during the 2021 campaign.

Fernando Tatis Jr. Injury Update

The new face of baseball left immediately from Friday's game while Padres manager Jayce Tingler provided an injury update following the game. Tingler explained this injury is very similar to Tatis Jr.'s previous shoulder dislocation and he'll be re-evaluated on Saturday.

It's looking like Tatis Jr. will miss at least a few games, however, there's still hope he avoids another IL stint. Still, this is bad timing in San Diego. Currently, the Padres 5.5 games back in the NL West division standings. There's just two months left in the 2021 season and the clock is ticking for San Diego to make their push at a division title.

On the year, Tatis Jr. is in the NL MVP conversation with his stellar .292/.373/.651 slash line including 31 home runs, 70 RBIs and 23 stolen bases. According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the Padres own the third-best odds (+1000) to win the division.
