After undergoing some hard breakups this offseason, the Philadelphia Eagles are looking ahead to adding top talent in the 2021 NFL Draft. With the No. 6 overall pick, Philly is in prime position to nab a difference-maker to elevate their team.
However, one of their top potential draft targets may not be on the board when it's their turn to pick.
The Atlanta Falcons reportedly have their eyes on Florida tight end Kyle Pitts with their first-round selection at No. 4 overall. Pitts is one of the best pass-catchers in this entire draft, with some experts seeing him as the best overall receiver in this stacked class.
Although the Falcons already have weapons like Julio Jones, Calvin Ridley and Hayden Hurst already on the roster, it wouldn't be shocking for them to pursue another weapon for Matt Ryan, especially with his recent contract restructure that will likely keep him around for a few more years.
With Philadelphia in desperste need of top-level receivers, Pitts is an ideal target for the Eagles. Perhaps Atlanta is trying to pressure them (or other interested teams) into trading up with a smokescreen regarding their interest in the promising tight end.
Even if Pitts is taken before No. 6, weapons like DeVonta Smith or Ja'Marr Chase still give the Eagles other chances at getting a top receiver in this year's draft.
