Despite free agency beginning nearly one month ago, there are still several available players who could make an impact on an NFL roster. One of these remaining free agents happens to be former Cleveland Browns defensive end Olivier Vernon.

Vernon has spent the last two seasons with the Browns. In 2020, he suited up in 14 games and recorded 9 sacks, and a forced fumble. Vernon was also the Week 11 AFC Defensive Player of the Week after tallying 5 tackles, 3 sacks and a safety against the Philadelphia Eagles. Unfortunately, Vernon's season came to an end when he suffered an Achilles injury.

While no one knows how Vernon will look like after recovering from his injury, his track record shows that he's more than capable of strengthening a team's defense. Keeping that in mind, here are the best remaining destinations for Olivier Vernon.

Olivier Vernon Rumors

3. Los Angeles Chargers

The Los Angeles Chargers let DE Melvin Ingram III hit free agency this offseason, so it makes sense to look at Vernon as a replacement. The team still has over $21 million in cap space left, according to Spotrac, so they could absolutely afford him. In the 2020 season, the Chargers averaged 1.7 sacks per game (25th), so they could really use someone with Vernon's expertise.

2. Buffalo Bills

According to Spotrac, the Buffalo Bills have around $4.8 million in cap space to play around with, but they could free up a bit more with a couple moves. And Vernon could be attracted to Buffalo for the chance to play for a ring. The Bills are coming off of an AFC Championship appearance and are in need of a pass-rusher to solidify their defense. The Bills averaged 2.38 sacks per game last season (T-15th) and Vernon's hard-hitting style would help raise that number in 2021.

1. Seattle Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks are another team that's been in the market for a pass-rusher this offseason. The organization has already brought in Kerry Hyder Jr., who had 8.5 sacks last season, to help improve their defense. However, that unit still needs a boost, and adding Vernon should do just that. Opposing quarterbacks could be in trouble in 2021 if this ended up happening.
