FanDuel Picks Tonight NBA
Jayson Tatum Fantasy
Target Jayson Tatum, PF, Boston Celtics ($9,500): The Boston Celtics' season more or less ended when Jaylen Brown's wrist injury was announced, but his absence means big things for Jayson Tatum's fantasy value. For the season, Tatum averaged 1.21 FanDuel points per minute with Brown on the floor, compared to 1.29 without him. With Brown out over the last two games, Tatum averaged 51.8 FanDuel points per outing – up from his 44.03 season average. Those games came against a top-five defense in the Miami Heat. Now facing a below-average Cleveland Cavaliers defense, Tatum could feast on Wednesday night.
John Collins Fantasy
Target John Collins, PF, Atlanta Hawks ($6,800): John Collins hasn't quite looked like himself since returning from a lengthy absence, but he's quietly starting to turn things around. He has scored at least 25 points in back-to-back games, putting up at least 37.0 FanDuel points in both outings. He's also coming off a 47.1-point FanDuel performance in his most recent game, which came against the Washington Wizards, who Collins will face again tonight. Washington is the league's worst scoring defense and plays at the NBA's fastest pace, so Collins should be in for a repeat performance here.
Jakob Poeltl Fantasy
Target Jakob Poeltl, C, Brooklyn Nets ($6,000): Jakob Poeltl is a boom-or-bust fantasy producer. Over his last four games, Poeltl has two outings with at least 43.0 FanDuel points and two with 21.0 points or fewer. Poeltl is inherently a bit of a riskier option, but there's reason to believe he'll fall more on the "boom" side of things tonight. He's facing the Brooklyn Nets, who are a bottom-10 scoring defense and play at a top-12 pace. Brooklyn also allows opponents to convert shots from within three feet at a 69.3% clip, which is a bottom-12 rate. Over half of Poeltl's attempts come that range, setting him up for a nice night as a scorer. Pair that with a date against a Nets' defense that grabs the 11th-fewest rebounds per game, and Poeltl could be a huge value on Wednesday night.
Damian Lillard Fantasy
Avoid Damian Lillard, PG, Portland Trail Blazers ($9,600): Damian Lillard has been rolling recently, putting up at least 50.0 FanDuel points in six of his last seven games. But he draws a date with the Utah Jazz tonight, which usually leads to a dip in production for just about anyone. Utah is a top-three scoring defense, owns a top-five defensive rating and plays at a below-average pace. Trae Young, who has a date with the terrible Wizards' defense, is a much better value tonight as he's over $1,000 cheaper.
Christian Wood Fantasy
Avoid Christian Wood, PF, Houston Rockets ($8,300): Christian Wood is questionable with an ankle injury tonight. While it's looking like he's trending toward playing, he's still not someone you'd want to rely on tonight. He has a matchup with the Los Angeles Lakers, who own the league's best defensive rating and the league's 10th-best total rebound percentage. Plus, Kenyon Martin Jr. has been on fire while playing in place of Wood, so he could easily cut into Wood's playing time as Houston opts to manage their star's workload.
