The Washington Nationals have weathered through injuries to key players early on this season. Impressively, they sit just 3.5 games back of the New York Mets for first place in the NL East.

Yet the injury bug seems to have reappeared in their clubhouse.

Josh Bell Injury Update

Josh Bell was scratched from the lineup just before Thursday's game due to side soreness, and he's scheduled to have an MRI on Friday. That's less than ideal for a side injury to pop up out of the blue, and needing further testing is enough to make fans anxious.

Manager Davey Martinez added on to the worries over Bell by saying the first baseman's soreness is near the oblique, which can be a troublesome area for players.

Bell has provided some serious pop to the Nats' lineup this season. He's recorded 10 home runs and 32 RBI while slashing .228/.292/.437. Any absence of Bell, who ranks third in both HRs and RBI on the team, would be a blow as Washington looks to hang on in the NL East race.
