Trevor Story's tenure with the Colorado Rockies will likely be coming to an end ahead of the July 30 MLB Trade Deadline. With Colorado sitting at 25-37 and in fourth place in the NL West, the organization is likely going to be looking to deal Story sometime in the next month.
That plan hit a bit of a snag when it was revealed that Story is dealing with a nagging elbow issue. But the organization just activated him from the injured list, meaning he should be a hot commodity on the trade market come late July.
Trevor Story Trade Rumors
This is great news for both Story and the Rockies. An impending free agent, Colorado is much better off dealing Story this season rather than risk losing him for nothing.
Some teams could be cautious about giving up too much for the infielder, though, as he's in the midst of a down year. He's slashing .255/.322/.424 with 5 home runs, 23 RBI and 8 steals. That's a big drop for a guy who averaged 28 home runs while slashing .292/.355/.554 over the last three seasons.
Still, a healthy Story should fetch a nice return on the trade market, assuming Colorado decides to go that route.
