The New York Mets have been hit dreadfully hard with the injury bug this season. Currently, New York's roster has four members of the usual starting lineup as multiple pitchers and role players on the injured list.
Still, this team has absolutely persevered to kick off the 2021 MLB season. New York still owns first-place in the NL East with an overall record of 21-19. Regardless of their place in the standings, the Mets got some bad news on the injury update to starting pitcher Carlos Carrasco.
Carlos Carrasco Injury Update
Carrasco was the other piece to the Mets' blockbuster deal that landed superstar shortstop Francisco Lindor from the Cleveland Indians this past winter. It wasn't anything to bat an eye at, either. Carrasco has 11 years of MLB experience including 88 career wins and a 3.77 ERA.
But, Carrasco hasn't thrown a single pitch in a Mets uniform yet. The right-handed started tore his hamstring in spring training and the recovery process is going painfully slow. According to MLB.com Mets beat write Anthony DiComo, Carrasco is still at least one or two months away from returning to action.
This is painful news, but at least there's some sort of timeline for Mets fans to rely on. After all, if the Mets are still in first-place and recoup to full health by the end of the summer, this team will be a scary opponent heading into the end of the year and postseason.
Currently, New York owns the fifth-best odds (+1000) to win the World Series, according to the latest MLB odds on FanDuel Sportsbook.
