Mets Fans Get First Spring Training Look At Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander

The 2023 MLB season is drawing near and there's no better sign of this new beginning than the official report dates for Spring Training. The New York Mets' pitchers and catchers report on Wednesday, Feb. 15.
For the first time in a decade, Jacob deGrom will not be reporting to Mets camp. But, the fanbase has something else to be excited about: reigning AL Cy Young award winner and World Series champion Justin Verlander. The franchise signed Verlander to replace deGrom's absence in the rotation and the 9-time All-Star now forms a formidable one-two punch with Max Scherzer.
On Tuesday, a day before the official report date, Mets fans got their first look at the pair of stud rotation arms walking into camp. Check it out below.

Both superstar pitchers enter the facility parking lot with gloves in hands, both soaking up the Florida sun with sunglasses and hats. Scherzer also appears to be holding multiple pairs of shoes or cleats.
The two are very familiar with one another, once a pair of young aces for the Detroit Tigers. Scherzer and Verlander crossed paths in Detroit from 2010-14 and hauled in a total of six All-Star appearances and two Cy Young awards during that span.
It should be no surprise, but the Tigers were dominant during this stretch. The franchise went to four postseasons in five years, made three ALCS trips and one World Series appearance. The Mets are certainly hoping that success translates to Queens in 2023. Fortunately, the franchise holds favorable +750 odds to win the 2023 World Series on FanDuel Sportsbook.
