In the wake of the Breshad Perriman cut on Monday, the Detroit Lions are clearly not done tinkering with their wide receiver depth chart. On Tuesday, Detroit traded for rookie wideout Trinity Benson, who has shown promise for the Denver Broncos during the preseason.
Denver will receive fifth- and seventh-round 2022 draft picks in exchange for Benson and a 2023 sixth-round pick.
Lions Trade for Trinity Benson
In extended preseason action, Benson hauled in 8 receptions for a pair of touchdowns and 80 receiving yards. The undrafted rookie joins a Lions wide receiver depth chart highlighted by Tyrell Williams and fellow rookie Amon-Ra St. Brown.
In a corresponding move, the Lions also released veteran Geronimo Allison as head coach Dan Campbell and his staff try to get younger at wideout.
Detroit enters Week 1 of the regular season as 7.5-point home underdogs against the San Francisco 49ers, according to NFL odds on FanDuel Sportsbook.
