Curtis Samuel's health has been a huge story for the Washington Football Team this offseason. Samuel has dealt with a nagging groin injury that's kept him sidelined since early June, and now the regular season is approaching fast.

However, the latest update on the wideout is great news.

Head coach Ron Rivera is "very confident" Samuel will suit up for the team's Week 1 contest against the Los Angeles Chargers. The receiver has been trending in the right direction recently and it appears his return to the practice field could be imminent.

Samuel was one of Washington's biggest additions this offseason, stealing the speedster in free agency from the Carolina Panthers. The converted collegiate running back set career highs in 2020 in receptions (77) and yards (851) while scoring 3 TDs.

The Ohio State product still has plenty of potential waiting to be tapped, and he should thrive playing opposite of Terry McLaurin. That duo could be part of WFT's offense hitting the next level in 2021 with new quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick in town.

Washington is a 1-point home underdog heading into their Week 1 clash against the Chargers, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
