Kerryon Johnson was one of the league's most talked-about running backs in fantasy circles last year. Unfortunately, injuries limited the talented second-year back to just eight games, and his fantasy stock reached an all-time low when the Detroit Lions spent a second-round pick on D'Andre Swift.

He's essentially been forgotten about, though he could have some upside as a post-hype sleeper in 2020.

Kerryon Johnson Fantasy Football Outlook

Johnson is currently coming off the board with an average draft position (ADP) of RB36, per FantasyPros. That puts him just inside the top-100 overall players, though he's well behind Detroit's prized rookie back (RB25).

He's far from a surefire bet to stay on the field and might lose volume to Swift even if he's fully healthy, but there's definitely a world in which Johnson is a solid fantasy producer. For one, Swift has already gotten banged up in training camp. If he goes down this would be Johnson's backfield.

In the limited time we've seen Johnson play, he's been pretty effective. He was the RB23 in PPR formats before going down last year (Week 1-6), and he was the RB13 once he took on a significant role in 2018 (Week 3-11), though his year was once again cut short due to injury.

Plus, with Matthew Stafford back under center, Detroit's offense has a chance to be scary in 2020. That could make touches in this backfield a real commodity.

Johnson is a low-risk, decent-reward flyer at his current ADP. He's a fine player to target, but he likely won't have much upside while Swift is healthy.

We have Kerryon as the RB41 in our 2020 rankings.
