Every NFL offseason has its fair share of trade rumors and this year is no different. The latest of the bunch occurred on Friday when NFL insider Pat Leonard reported that the New York Giants were looking to trade wide receiver Kadarius Toney.
Toney, who was a first-round pick for the Giants just one year ago, took to social media to address the rumors on Saturday. It doesn't appear as if the talented wideout is taking the situation seriously, posting to his Instagram story, "If you believe everything on the internet, you gullible."
Kadarius Toney Trade Rumors
Leonard cited attitude problems as the main reason why the Giants have been trying to find out what Toney's trade value looks like. Allegedly, the 23-year-old receiver's issues include a "lack of playbook study, poor meeting behavior and frequent injuries." Furthermore, he has chosen not to participate in the Giants' voluntary workout this week.
Toney took the NFL by storm with his Week 5 performance against the Dallas Cowboys last season, finishing with 189 yards on 10 catches. Unfortunately, injuries and COVID-19 held him to just five games played for the remainder of the year, where he only recorded 19 receptions for 139 yards.
Toney also dealt with some on-field issues, proven by his Week 5 ejection after he punched Cowboys defensive back Damontae Kazee. He avoided a suspension, however, it was clear that the incident created a rift between him and the Giants.
Toney is an incredibly talented player when healthy and could be a game-changer if he reaches his potential. Only time will tell if that'll be with the Giants next season or elsewhere.
