The San Diego Padres and San Francisco Giants were engaged in a rowdy affair on Friday night. The situation began after Giants fans threw a baseball and beer bottle at Padres outfielder Jurickson Profar at different points in the game.

Even though the Padres' got the last laugh with the 8-7 victory, Profar didn't mince words when it came to his criticism of Giants fans following the heated matchup, calling the fanbase "the worst in the league."

Padres vs Giants News

Profar said that the situation began when he tried to throw a ball to someone cheering for the Padres, only for a Giants fan to throw it back at the outfielder. Someone ended up throwing another baseball, followed by the aforementioned beer bottle in the seventh inning, resulting in umpire crew chief Ted Barrett getting involved.

"You can talk whatever you want. You paid to watch the game. [Giants fans] are the worst in the league. They can talk but as soon as you try to throw stuff, that’s different."

Profar highlighted that he was frustrated because it didn't seem like anyone tried to stop the fans from acting out. His main concern was if someone concussed him while he wasn't paying attention, which is more than a valid concern.

Even Padres manager Bob Melvin described the situation as "uncalled for," however, he's unsure of how they can control every fan's behavior. For the safety of the players, some solution needs to be met.

Hopefully, the fans are better behaved when the Padres and Giants collide again on Saturday. San Francisco is projected to get revenge for last night's loss as FanDuel Sportsbook is listing the club as the -164 moneyline favorite over San Diego (+138).
