The Dallas Cowboys are on a bye in Week 9, making this an important stretch to heal several players nursing injuries. That includes running back Ezekiel Elliott after he missed Week 8 with a knee injury.
Fortunately, team owner Jerry Jones provided some encouraging news on his veteran tailback.
Jones explained that he expects Zeke to play in Week 10 when the Cowboys battle the Packers in Green Bay. Dallas' owner also alluded to the fortunate timing of his team's bye week.
While there's no denying Elliott's impressive track record as one of the NFL's best rushers since 2016, the Cowboys have an embarrassment of riches at running back. Elliott and Tony Pollard have combined to form one of the most lethal ground attacks in the NFL, helping the team rank 11th in rushing yards and fifth in rushing touchdowns.
Assuming Elliott does return in Week 10, he'll look to give Dallas a boost against Green Bay. The Cowboys are currently listed as 2.5-point road favorites on FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds for this marquee NFC showdown.
