The Pittsburgh Steelers are in an incredibly interesting spot heading into the 2020 season. They went only 8-8 last year, but that was while playing with backup quarterbacks and being carried by a terrific defense. Now they're getting Ben Roethlisberger back, but he's also 38 years old and coming off a serious injury. It remains to be seen whether he'll still be playing at a high level.
Well, Steelers fans can start to get excited now, because James Conner has revealed that Roethlisberger seems to be having no issues and is playing at his usual high level during offseason workouts.
If Roethlisberger is fully healthy again, the Steelers could be a real dark horse contender in the AFC. The last time he played a full season (2018), Big Ben led the NFL in passing yards with 5,129, and he's led the league in passing yards per game in three of his last five healthy seasons.
Pairing that kind of production with a defense that carried Mason Rudolph and Devlin Hodges to an 8-8 record should be a recipe for success.
