Jadeveon Clowney Contract Details Revealed
By Larry Rupp
The Cleveland Browns strengthened their defensive line by signing Jadeveon Clowney to a one-year contract on Tuesday. The 28-year-old former No. 1 overall pick will join Myles Garrett on what is quickly becoming one of the league's scariest defenses.
Clowney is in need of a bounce-back season after posting just 19 tackles (4 for loss) and 0 sacks in 8 games played in 2020. It looks like the Browns took that into consideration as they were able to sign the defensive end to a team-friendly deal that seems to be a low-risk, high reward situation.

Most of the money tied up in this deal is spread out over 5 years so that acquiring Clowney doesn't force the Browns to take a massive cap hit. Plus, it is an incentive heavy deal that should make Clowney motivated to go out and prove he still has what it takes to make an impact in the NFL.
Overall, this was a smart move by Cleveland and one that could pay dividends if Clowney can return to the form he showed just 2 years ago. He totaled 13 quarterback hits, 3.0 sacks, 4 forced fumbles and even had an interception during the 2019 season he spent with the Seattle Seahawks.
The Browns made the playoffs for the first time since 2002 last season, but they aren't looking to stop there. This team is going to challenge for a top spot in the AFC and bringing in Clowney is just another step towards that goal.
