Star defensive end J.J. Watt finally ended his hotly contest free agency sweepstakes on Monday by announcing his signing with the Arizona Cardinals. It was a major coup for Arizona, who wasn't among the favorites to land him.
However, the signing hasn't made an impact on the Cardinals' Super Bowl chances in 2021.
Cardinals Super Bowl Odds 2021
Arizona's +4400 odds to win Super Bowl LVI, per FanDuel Sportsbook, remain unchanged after the Watt signing. These odds are actually slightly down from the +4100 they were at after Super Bowl LV, demonstrating that oddsmakers aren't taking the Cardinals seriously just yet.
The Cards started the 2020 campaign on the right foot, going 6-3 before losing five of their last seven games and falling out of the playoff picture. But the potential for this team to grow as Kyle Murray continues his development is certainly there, especially with DeAndre Hopkins on the roster.
Now, Watt gets to reunite with his former Houston Texans teammate and create an intimidating defensive line with Chandler Jones. With a few more moves, the Cardinals' odds could be on the rise.
