The Cleveland Browns are looking for redemption in the 2020 season, trying to prove last season's hype is still deserved. The offensive unit looks stacked, featuring one of the best running back duos in the NFL, in Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt. Both players have the potential to be the best running back in the league, but they have some big footsteps to follow in, with the Browns having some terrific running backs in their history.

With that being said, these are the three greatest running backs in Browns history.

Best Cleveland Browns Running Backs of All Time

3. Mike Pruitt (1976-1984)

Mike Pruitt joined the team after his brother Greg, and he was initially tasked with opening running lanes for him. But after Greg suffered a knee injury, Mike got his chance to start and never looked back. He was voted to a Pro Bowl in his first full season as a starter, and he totaled 6,540 yards and 47 touchdowns on the ground as a Brown, ranking third in franchise history for both categories.

2. Leroy Kelly (1964-1973)

Leroy Kelly was faced with the tall task of replacing a future Hall of Famer, but he did not shy away from this opportunity, putting together a Hall of Fame career of his own. Kelly ranks second all-time in both rushing yards (7,272) and rushing touchdowns (74) in Browns history. In his first season as the starter, he led the league with 15 touchdowns, and he went on to be voted to three straight All-Pro teams and six straight Pro Bowls.

1. Jim Brown (1957-1965)

The top spot shouldn't be a surprise to anybody. Jim Brown is one of the greatest running backs in NFL history, being the only player in league history to average more than 100 rushing yards per game for his career (104.3). He ranks first in franchise history in rushing, with 12,312 yards and 106 touchdowns. Brown led the league in rushing in eight of his nine seasons, being arguably the most dominant player at his position ever.
