The Cincinnati Bengals decided it was best to cut ties with Geno Atkins this offseason in order to save some money against the cap. The veteran defensive tackle now heads into free agency looking to join a new team. His 11 years of NFL experience are sure to help a contender next season.

Teams are always looking to improve their defense and could look towards Atkins as a way to bring some power and strength to the line.

With that being said, here are the three best remaining free-agent destinations for Atkins.

1. Cleveland Browns

If Atkins wants to sign with a contender, then the Cleveland Browns are a top landing spot for him this offseason. Lining him up alongside starters Myles Garrett and Sheldon Richardson would create nightmares for opposing offensive lines. Plus, the veteran wouldn't cost too much to sign and has racked up at least 9.0 sacks in four of his last six seasons. The Browns are already all-in on a Super Bowl run and making this move would only prove that even more.

2. New Orleans Saints

Another contender looking to build depth along the defensive line is the New Orleans Saints. After not being able to re-sign Sheldon Rankins and being forced to trade Malcolm Brown due to a dismal cap space situation, the team is now in search of replacements. Atkins is an eight-time Pro Bowler that that knows what it takes to get the job done. He could be in for a bounce back season after dealing with injuries in 2020 and New Orleans would be smart to take a chance on him. The Saints still don't have much cap space, but Atkins may be willing to take a discount to play for a contender.

3. Atlanta Falcons

Atkins is a former Georgia Bulldog and could return to the Peach State by signing with the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons have a need at defensive tackle and Atkins would slide right in as a starter Week 1. He would also be a great option to help mentor some of the younger defensive linemen such as Marlon Davidson. If Atkins is willing to sign a short-term deal, the Falcons could make a push and convince the veteran that they have a team ready to make playoff run in 2021.
