The MLB free agent market is expected to heat up any day now after a slow start. The Atlanta Braves are one team many are keeping an eye on as they look to improve their roster for the 2023 season.
A recent rumor has now linked the Braves to a potential upgrade in the outfield.
Joe Doyle of Prospects Live reports Atlanta has "shown interest" in Mitch Haniger, along with the Minnesota Twins. There are multiple teams in the mix for the former All-Star, who's been connected to several other clubs to begin free agency.
It's no surprise to see Haniger drawing plenty of suitors in free agency. When healthy, he's been very productive at the plate. Haniger earned his first All-Star nod in 2018 after recording 26 home runs and 93 RBIs. In 2021, he popped off for 39 home runs and 100 RBIs.
However, Haniger missed most of the 2019 campaign, all of 2020, and most of this past season due to various health troubles. He's also turning 32 years old this offseason, so age is another factor to consider.
Assuming the veteran outfielder is back at full strength, though, he'd give Atlanta's lineup a huge boost.
