Frank Clark's trade to the Kansas City Chiefs was one of the biggest headlines of the NFL offseason. It's also done wonders for the Kansas City defense's fantasy football outlook for 2019 – especially when the Chiefs play the Oakland Raiders.
Clark absolutely manhandled the Raiders' offensive line in Week 6 of last season when he was still a member of the Seattle Seahawks, notching a single-game, career-high three sacks and a 91.5 overall grade from Pro Football Focus. Oh, and he did all of that despite playing just three quarters of the game.
The Chiefs D/ST should be a top-end streaming option when they play their AFC West rivals in Week 2 and Week 13, but Clark's presence on the defensive line might actually make the the unit a viable weekly fantasy play in 2019.
The 26-year-old defensive end has been one of the NFL's best pass-rushers since entering the league, tallying an impressive 32 quarterback sacks (ninth-highest total since 2016) over the past three seasons.
In addition to Clark, Kansas City made some other savvy moves on the defensive side of the ball in free agency. The Chiefs signed All-Pro safety Tyrann Mathieu as well as pass-rushers Alex Okafor (22 career sacks) and Emmanuel Ogbah.
If the KC D/ST can come together and flourish under new defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo, the Chiefs could make for an under-rated weekly fantasy play throughout the 2019 NFL season.
