Falcons Playoff Odds Take a Nosedive Following Week 15 Loss on FanDuel Sportsbook

It's safe to say that this NFL season has not quite gone to plan for the Atlanta Falcons. While they have pulled off a few impressive upsets, they have also been the victim of some epic beatdowns. Overall, the Falcons have lost four of their last six games and are seeing their playoff chances fade away.

As a result of their Week 15 loss to the San Francisco 49ers, the Falcons' playoff odds are taking a nosedive. FanDuel Sportsbook is giving the 6-8 Atlanta squad +3600 odds to secure a playoff berth.

It's important to point out that biggest impact made on Sunday was not the Falcons loss. It was rather the New Orleans Saints' improbable win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Saints' playoff odds have shot up as they created space between them and the Falcons in a crowded NFC Wild Card race.

The Falcons realistically may need win each of their final three games if they want any chance of making the playoffs for the first time since 2017. Atlanta enters Week 16 as a 4.5-point home favorite against the Detroit Lions (2-11-1) before heading on the road to take on the Buffalo Bills (8-5) in Week 17.

Head coach Arthur Smith's team has an opportunity to make up ground in the Wild Card given they face off against the Saints (7-7 record) in a crucial Week 18 matchup. Keep in mind Atlanta will be going for a season sweep after defeating New Orleans by a score of 27-25 back in Week 9.

While it may not be much, there is still a little bit of hope that Atlanta will be able to pull off a miracle here. Who knows, maybe the other teams competing for the No. 7 seed fall apart down the stretch.
