Falcons Fans Will Love ESPN's Early 2023 Mock Draft

Atlanta Falcons fans are preparing for disappointment this fall as their team has officially entered a rebuild ahead of the 2022 NFL season. The campaign will be tough and gruelling, but the Falcons will likely be rewarded with a high draft pick when all is said and done.

ESPN has already released its early 2023 NFL mock draft and Falcons fans are going to love the results. Analyst Matt Miller has Atlanta drafting Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud with the sixth overall selection.

Falcons 2023 Mock Draft

Stroud is seen by some experts and scouts as the top QB prospect in next year's class. Even though the Falcons did use a third-round pick to draft rookie signal-caller Desmond Ridder back in April, there's no denying that the Buckeyes QB has the higher upside of the two.

The 20-year-old was electric in his first year starting at Ohio State, leading the Big Ten in several categories, including passing yards (4,435), touchdowns (44) and yards per attempt (10.1). His efforts landed him fourth in Heisman Trophy voting at the end of the year.

The Falcons are far from greatness right now, but they have great pieces to help build around Stroud. Sophomore tight end Kyle Pitts and rookie wideout Drake London are two pass-catchers with tremendous upside, while former BYU Cougar Tyler Allgeier is a solid prospect to have in the backfield.

There's still plenty of time before the Falcons even have a chance to draft Stroud and anything can change by then. Having said that, if he ends up on Atlanta's roster in 2023, Falcons fans will feel even more optimistic about the future.

The 2023 NFL Draft begins on Thursday, April 23, 2023 at Union Station in Kansas City, MO.
