Exciting Update Emerges on Geno Smith's Future With Seahawks

Entering the 2022 NFL season, the Seattle Seahawks were expected to be one of the NFL's worst teams. After trading franchise quarterback Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos, and inserting backup Geno Smith into the starter role, hopes were not high.

Fast forward to today, and the Seahawks have surprised everyone. They're sitting in second place in the NFC West and fighting for a playoff berth.

A huge part of their success is the better than expected play from Smith. Once a highly touted draft pick, Smith never materilized as a starter with the New York Jets or any other franchise. Now, he seems to have a found a spot in Seattle, and it sounds like both sides want to keep this partnership going beyond this season.

Smith leads the NFL in complettion percentage, and has a great 26-8 touchdownto interception ratio. Apparently, the only thing keeping him from staying in Seattle is if another team swoops in and makes a bigger offer.

If there truly is mutual interest, I'm sure both sides will try and get a new contract in place this offseason. Then again, Smith might be able to maximize his leverage and dollars if he chooses to wait. Nevertheless, there's always a gamble when you do that.

It will be intriguing to see how this one plays out, but it's definitely one of the feel-good stories in the NFL this season.
