Despite the shocking hot-start from San Francisco Giants in 2021, the Los Angeles Dodgers remain a real threat in the National League. Los Angeles remains just 1.0 game back of the Giants in the NL West standings with their 58-36 overall record.
The third-place San Diego Padres also have 55 wins on their resume and trail by just 5.0 games in the standings. With the NL West shaping up to be an intense pennant race down the stretch, the Dodgers will need to stay healthy if they'd like to repeat as World Champs.
With that in mind, the latest injury update to shortstop Gavin Lux is definitely concerning for the defending champions.
Gavin Lux Injury Update
Lux kicked off the 2021 campaign as Los Angeles' starting second baseman. He took over at shortstop after Corey Seager's injury struggles for the past two months and has been ok in that role. Lux is slashing .227/.307/.349 with 37 RBIs and 3 triples on the year across 82 games.
On Sunday, the 23-year-old infielder pulled up short while running to first base in the ninth inning. He was replaced defensively during the next half inning and the Dodgers await further updates. While Seager is on the road back, the Dodgers won't want to see Lux miss any significant time.
Currently, Los Angeles remains the favorite to take home the 2021 World Series with their +400 odds on FanDuel Sportsbook.
