To no surprise, the New Orleans Saints struggled to find consistent quarterback play in the franchise's first year without Drew Brees under center. Jameis Winston went 5-2 before tearing his ACL and Taysom Hill looked average at best with the starting nod.

After a failed pursuit of Deshaun Watson, New Orleans will attempt to find more success with the same quarterback room, re-signing Winston to a two-year contract.

Only new head coach Dennis Allen is taking a different approach to the quarterback depth chart than his predecessor Sean Payton. Allen provided a bit of clarity around the pecking order on Tuesday at the NFL's Annual League Meeting.

The starting quarterback job is now Winston's, and his alone, according to Allen. The team will even focus Hill on playing tight end, Instead of continuing to use Hill in this do-it-all role.

It's certainly a change of pace for New Orleans' game plans seen under Payton. Hill attempted at least 120 passes in each of the past two seasons, but his 65.1% completion percentage and 8 touchdowns to 7 interceptions left a lot to be desired.

The position change also helps New Orleans find depth at a big hole on the roster. Nick Vannett and Adam Trautman are the top two tight ends on roster. However, Vannett is more suited for a blocking role while Trautman didn't impress too much in his second year.
