Deebo Samuel Injury Update Dims Week 17 Fantasy Outlook
By Larry Rupp
San Francisco 49ers' wide receiver Deebo Samuel is fighting to play in the team's regular season finale, but remained sidelined on Wednesday due to a hamstring injury. Samuel has only played in 6 games this season and hasn't been active since Week 14.
The 49ers already ruled out rookie receiver Brandon Aiyuk, so they could use Samuel this week as they take on a divisional rival in the Seattle Seahawks.
Deebo Samuel Fantasy Outlook
When Samuel has been able to suit up, he has been an efficient No. 1 receiver for the 49ers catching 33 of his 44 targets for 391 yards this season. He had a stellar performance back in Week 12 hauling in 11 of 13 targets for 133 yards.
If Samuel is ruled out, the 49ers will have a receiving corps highlighted by Kendrick Bourne and Richie James. Tight end George Kittle may see even more targets than usual. It is a great matchup as the Seahawks' defense has given up the most yards to opposing wide receivers in the NFL this season.
This is a situation to monitor as Sunday quickly approaches. If Samuel is able to ramp up his practice participation, he has a shot to play. However, it doesn't look likely right now for the second-year receiver.
