Dabo Swinney Reveals Surprise Injury News About D.J. Uiagalelei

While it may be harder to appreciate the way that backup Clemson Tigers freshman quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei has performed in Trevor Lawrence's absence following Saturday's loss to Notre Dame, new details about that performance should give Clemson fans an even greater perspective.
Not only did Uiagalelei set a record for the most passing yards against Notre Dame in its program history, with 439, it turns out he also did it while battling through an injury.

Swinney admitted that part of their game plan for last Saturday's game included protecting their freshman quarterback from the running game, as Uiagalelei reportedly injured his shoulder a few weeks ago in Clemson's game against Miami.
Considering Uiagalelei's incredible size and stature, standing at 6-foot-4 and 250 pounds, this new injury detail obviously made their offensive attack a little more limited than they would have wished.
While the loss was the loss, it's still promising for Clemson fans to know that it took the No. 4 team in the nation a 2OT game on their home field against the Tigers' freshman backup QB in just his second start to defeat them.
In other words, the future in Clemson, South Carolina, beyond Trevor Lawrence is still very, very bright.
