For over a year now, the conversation has been about when, not if, the Chicago Cubs jump-start a rebuild by trading stars like Kris Bryant and Anthony Rizzo.

Those stars may no longer be on the trade block with the way the Cubs have been playing lately, however.

The Cubs had a slow start to the season, opening the year with an 11-15 record.

After a 9-5 start to May, however, they're now sitting in third in the NL Central — just half a game back from the Milwaukee Brewers in second and 2.5 back from the St. Louis Cardinals in first.

If the Cubs continue this success through the end of the month and appear to have a real shot at making the postseason, there's little chance they'd want to ruin that by moving their key contributors.

There's still plenty of time for things to change before the trade deadline rolls around on July 30, but for now, players like Rizzo and Bryant appear to be off the trading block.

FanDuel Sportsbook's latest MLB odds still have the Cubs as big +420 underdogs to make the playoffs in 2021.
