With NFL free agency rapidly approaching, teams are cutting down their rosters to free up cap space. That has added some very interesting players to this year's loaded pool of available free agents.
Bleacher Report has projected one of these recent cuts to sign with the Dallas Cowboys — former Tennessee Titans defensive back Malcolm Butler.
Malcolm Butler Cowboys
Any Cowboys fan can tell you that the team needs help in the secondary,
As a unit, the Cowboys ranked just No. 27 in Pro Football Focus' coverage grade in 2020, and they were one of just seven teams to allow a triple-digit passer rating to opponents on the year.
The highest coverage grade for any Cowboys DB last year was 70.5 (for safety Donovan Wilson), and the highest for any cornerback on the roster was Trevon Diggs' 63.9.
A 72.7 coverage grade in 2020 means that Butler would represent an immediate upgrade at one of the Cowboys' biggest positions of need. At 31 years old and having just been released, Dallas shouldn't have to break the bank to bring him in, either.
