Chiefs Hosting First-Round Cornerback Prospect for Visit on Wednesday

Following their Super Bowl win, the Kansas City Chiefs will make the final pick of the first round in the 2023 NFL Draft. Though the premier prospects are expected to be scooped up by then, there's still a ton of talented players that can be found heading into the second round.

In fact, the Chiefs are meeting with one possible target on Wednesday.

Kansas City is set to host cornerback Cam Smith for a pre-draft visit on March 29. The South Carolina product has a "busy next few weeks" coming up, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, so it's clear there's plenty of interest in the potential first-rounder.

Smith's proven to be a major playmaker in the Gamecocks' secondary over the last three seasons. He's recorded a combined 6 interceptions and 18 passes defended during this time, using his size (6-foot-1) and speed (4.45-second 40-yard dash time) to disrupt opposing passing attacks.

The 2021 campaign was the obvious standout for the CB prospect. He racked up 3 INTs, 11 pass breakups and even a forced fumble as a redshirt sophomore, which raised his draft stock.

There's a ton to like about the South Carolina stud, who could easily hear his name called in the first round. It remains to be seen if the Chiefs get the chance to select him in April.
